Sayang Sembawang September 2020

Dear Residents,

I hope that you and your families have been staying safe during this Covid-19 period.

The past few months have seen many changes, including changes to the electoral boundaries in Sembawang GRC. Part of our estates in Admiralty and Woodlands have joined Marsiling-Yew Tee GRC, and part of Gambas has been redistributed to Nee Soon GRC. We are sad to see those precincts go, but trust that they will be in good hands.

Sembawang and Gambas have been renamed to Sembawang West and Sembawang Central respectively. Internal boundaries have been redrawn to redistribute the workload following the boundary changes. The latest Town Map has been included in this issue to help you identify which division you belong to and the MP taking care of your ward.

In this issue, we also introduce you one of our two new MPs in the GRC- Ms Poh Li San. You might have seen her around in your neighbourhood already, and I am sure that there are many more opportunities for you to meet her and get to know her better. Read inside for the interview we had with Ms Poh.

National Day celebrations were done online because of Covid-19. From the unfurling of flags, to E-Observance Ceremonies and online celebrations, find out how the different divisions celebrated the nation’s 55th birthday this year. We were also happy to see the mobile column driving through our town.

As we continue to tackle the pandemic, let us not forget that dengue remains a pressing nationwide issue. The Town Council will continue to work closely with National Environmental Agency to keep public areas safe. Please do your part too and ensure that your living environment is not conducive for mosquito breeding.

Stay safe and take care!
